Has there ever been in the history of music a hip-hop artist who's environmentally friendly? Surely, artist have acknowledged the matter of sustainability but has any made it the overall foundation of their career? If you're having trouble answering look no further! Ladies and Gentlemen i present to you JDove; a rapper and environmentalist who can deliver a jaw dropping verse and convince you to Go Green at the same time, but as JDove puts it "this was not an easy transformation".
Born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan; JDove has experienced and survived what some are fortunate enough to only witness through the news. Despite inner city violence and a poor education system, JDove was taught and shown the positive side of life outside of his usual environment. Due to a christian upbringing, at a young age, JDove's music selection was limited to Gospel, Jazz, and the classic Motown Oldies, but this didn't stop JDove from listening to music outside his parental restrictions. At the age of 9 while visiting his Grandmother's house on the Westside, an older cousin introduced JDove to 2pac's "All Eyez On Me" album which opened his mind to Hip-Hop. By the age of 13 JDove begins to write poetry, 2 years later he completes his first song he titles "A Pastor" dedicated to the pastor of his church.
At 16 JDove approaches the youth pastor's of the church and convinces them to allow him to form a Gospel Hip-Hop group along with his peers; this group was named "God Squad" which JDove named and lead. In 2003, "God Squad" were given their first official opportunity to perform live during a church youth event in which they headlined. The reaction was well received and the group went on to perform around the city of Detroit at local youth events. After 2 months the group split on good terms as JDove continued as solo artist.
While in pursuit of a music business degree in 2008 at the McNally Smith College of Music, JDove began working on his first debut mixtape release titled "Recycle Bin: Season One" with the concept of reusing mainstream industry beats from mainstream artist to promote and stress the importance of recycling to save the planet. "Recycle Bin: Season One" was released on "Earth Day" 2011 marking the beginning of a great future for the rising star. On Christmas Day 2011 JDove independently released his debut EP "Glass Half Full", a must have for those battling negativity in a malfuctioning society.
In February 2012, JDove relocates to the city of Angels in an effort to establish and compete with the top hitters in the industry. After a year of hard work and dedication JDove is now touring Europe alone! Starting with Germany, carrying along 500 copies of "Recycle Bin: Season One" 3 shirts, a pair of jeans and a laptop! With no shows booked, JDove has been seen performing live on the streets to passing on lookers on popular streets such as Hohe Straße. Needless to say you can expect to see more of this individual in the near future.
